Matty Rowan and Rob Peel are entering the ring for the upcoming Fight for your Cause, raising funds for the Bishop Michael Putney Fellowship

Mental health has emerged as a major issue in regional Australia, with our North Queensland region now having the highest rate of youth suicide in the world. Much needed research and awareness is required to start addressing this problem.
As we know this issue has now manifested itself in the sporting community. Players face enormous pressure to meet high expectations on and off with such things as media, social media and their community, as well as in many cases living away from their support network of family and friends.
Sadly, there have been an alarming number of professional and semi-professional RL players that have suffered from these pressures.
This problem is right on our doorstep, our city and region have recently suffered from the tragic passing of several young local players.
The BMPF has appointed two researchers to study and identify the social sciences behind this mounting tragic problem. Only through this understanding will we be able to make the changes and give the support necessary to address these tragic statistics and ensure that the future is much brighter and healthier.
