In Honor of Matt Siwinski

Our friend Matthew was diagnosed with a rare form of brain cancer in the summer of 2016. Thanks to the Memorial Sloan Kettering cancer research center, we were all able to spend more time with him than we anticipated. We want to help others to experience the same with their loved ones.
Matthew Siwinski was the best of us. No matter where we were, he was always the best of the group. Matt was taken from us too early due to this rare form of brain cancer. The quality of his person was matched only by his love of life, and he never had trouble showing his love to those close to him. His friends and his family were always his priorities and he didn’t mind telling anyone. His life motto was “Do it for the story”. This motto could mean so many different things. When Matt said it, it meant live, but really live. Not everything has to be done for a reason. Sometimes you just have to do it, even if what you are doing is just for the story. His ability to live like this, while constantly spreading love to every person he met it is an ability too few have.
Rare cancer research is underfunded. We have an extraordinary opportunity to change that. While we can’t all be the doctors, or the researchers finding a cure, we can all help. We can raise the money that makes their lifesaving work possible. We have a chance to give more and more people time with their loved ones, time that they desperately need. We can do this in honor of our friend Matthew.
I, Michael Granath, have been family friends with the Siwinski family for over 25 years. The funds will directly be given by me to help the Siwinski family get back on their feet after their tragic loss. Everyone in the Mineola community thank everyone who has donated.
All funds go to the Siwinski family in honor of Matt.
