Matthew Simpkin Memorial Fund

Donation protected
Matthew Simpkin passed away on Friday 18 August 2017. He was 19 years old and had the World at his feet.  Tragically, Matt took his own life.

There was no warning signals, no signs of mental illness, no trigger event which lead to this tragedy.  He just ended his life.

Matt's family and friends are completely heartbroken.

On behalf of the Simpkin and Drage families, in memory of Matt, we have decided to establish a memorial fund, all the proceeds of which will go to Lifeline.  Lifeline has been at the forefront of suicide prevention for 50 years, providing 24 hour support to Australian's experiencing a personal crisis.

It is estimated that there are more than 65000 suicide attempts in Australia in 2015 and, on average, 8 Australians suicide each day.

Matt had googled Lifeline but we are not aware if he made a call to them or not.

Many Australians owe their lives to the awesome work of the Lifeline volunteers.

Matt's legacy will help Lifeline raise awareness, continue its work and train more volunteer counsellors in suicide prevention.
