18 months ago Matt found out he had a heart condition. He was a very active out going person, but after being put on medication, Matt's life was changed. It's pretty terrifying initially when you are sitting still and suddenly your heart is pumping out of your chest for no reason, the tablets are meant to stop that. But the medication has side effects. It slows your heart rate, and makes you tired all the time. Imagine being in 32 and feeling like you're 60!
After sitting on the waiting list for over a year and being given the date of January as his operation date, Matt just received a phone call saying that there has been a cancellation. Suddenly there is an available operation time in November! This is amazing news, but unfortunately Matt's just committed to moving house, and we all know how expensive that can be. With a monthly pay structure, there is just no way he can afford to pay for heart surgery next month.
Heart Surgery is scary for anyone, but it will (hopefully) be life changing for Matt. While there is a 60% chance it will work, that 60% means no more tablets twice a day, no more scary heart episodes and no more constant exhaustion. 3 months isn't that much more to wait, but it does mean that maybe by January he will know if its worked.
If we can even raise half over the next 72 hours, that means he can speed to process up, which means he can go back to living a normal, active 33 year old life.
