Matt Needs a Car for Work

This is a difficult request to make. I need to buy an inexpensive used car in order to get to and from work.

I moved to Austin, TX in December because I had to leave my congregation in Auckland, New Zealand a full year early and on short notice because of a visa glitch (caused by the NZ Embassy) that could not be fixed.

I am starting from scratch. This is the first time I've moved to a new place without a job waiting. I have found a couple of part-time ministerial jobs so far, but both will require out of town travel.

I am not in a position to finance a car. I'll need to pay cash, which I don't currently have. It will be March before I see any paychecks, and longer than that before I could save enough to buy a car.

I'm appealing to the generosity of friends and family during this difficult transition. Any size donation will help.

I have a goal of $5,000 to be able to buy a reliable car that won't need much immediate maintenance. Even if all of my Facebook friends donated $6, we would get there.

If we don't reach this goal, your donations will still go to whatever I can afford with the donations received. Although I'm not setting a deadline for this campaign, I hope you'll be able to donate sooner rather than later. I'll need to start traveling for work in the next few weeks. I can borrow a car sometimes, but not often.
