Matt Dotson had MOXIE, that undeniable charisma that made him such a special young man. Although Matt left us at 16 years of age, you cannot measure his life with a calendar. Matt had the experience, confidence and spirit of a person much older. For as long as he was on this earth, he carried that air, that beautiful spirit about him. Always wanting to emulate his heroes, older brothers Mark and Johnny, he did what he could to be a part of their crowd as well as his own. It takes confidence and spirit to bridge that age gap, but Matt was the rare person that could do it and Mark and Johnny protected him like only older brothers can. The Dotson boys, a proud trio forged by their great parents Keith and Debbie. The Dotson’s are great people, as resilient a family that Dublin has ever seen. You cannot help but love the Dotson family.

Matt had a gift, the awesome and beautiful gift of bringing light to others. We can all see Matt’s smile, we can all hear Matt’s laugh, but the true beauty of Matt Dotson was that he made YOU smile, he made YOU laugh. Somehow he always made YOU feel good. He could make your day---What a gift!

There are hundreds of fun stories about Matt, everyone who entered his life has some to share as it was just FUN to be around him, that beautiful spirit of his shining through. As we move forward, let’s continue to share Matt’s stories; for with this tragedy, Matt’s spirit will be forever young and we should take comfort in that, because Matt was great at being young.

To know Matt was really to love Matt, as many have said, he was Dublin’s Little Brother—he will remain a light within all of us.
