Hello! I have five new songs I would love to share with all of you, but the catch is I need your help to make it happen! I really believe in these songs. Three of them are fully done on the production and writing side of things and the other two are not. I have many more songs I'd love to share and if I’m fortunate enough to raise more than my goal, I will make the EP longer! My goal is to raise $5,000 to fund 5 songs. The money raised will all go towards making this project happen. I'm going to have Chris Greely, who mixed my last two projects mix it. Eric Lemiere, produced my last two projects and will play Drums and Guitar on most songs. The remaining money will go towards studio time. If I raise $5,000, I will record 5 songs, if not then I'll do however many songs I can fund ($1,000 per song). I think we can do this! Everything Is Possible
This song was born out of a time when I noticed in the gospels that Jesus said that with the father "everything is possible". That really stuck with me and I felt like it is a declaration that the church needs to remember and hold on to. Jesus said it in Mark 9, directed towards the boy’s father who came to Jesus seeking healing for his son. Jesus responds to the man’s plea and connects believing with everything being possible. This song really is a declaration that we believe God is who he says he is and that with him everything is possible. It's a statement and prayer for it to be true, wrapped up in one.
Yes And Amen
This song started with the verse lyrics that popped into my head one day while riding in our apartment’s elevator (which is insanely slow, so it creates a lot of time for reflection). I was simply thinking about how God uses the weak and foolish things/people of the world more than those who are eloquent or important. It's rather upside down. The lyrics "You don't need wisdom, You don't need power, just my yes and amen" came to mind. At the heart of this song is a desire to trust and obey what the Father has in store for us simply because that's the best thing you could do for yourself as a human being. To be fully human is to fully submit your entire being to the one who created you. Our obedience is worship. Not in a dictator over subjects sort of way, but in a father who longs to bless his kids sort of way. Jesus said, "If you love me you will keep my commandments". My desire is that this song helps you grasp a moment of saying yes to what God has for you and amen to everything that he says about you in the scriptures.
Your Love Endures
This song came from a time of me reading through the book of Psalms and specifically the line "your love is better than life". Really wanting to get to that spot where that's true for me and I could sing it from a place of experience and not longing. Then I met up with a couple friends of mine who I love to write with (Jon Neufeld and Ryan Post) and we had likeminded thoughts. So we put it into a song!
Goodness And Mercy
I wrote the verses to this song in the hospital hallways a few months back right after our three year old daughter, Rylan, got ran over by a car. The most terrifying week of my life by far. It was during those few days where we didn't know if she was gonna be ok or not. Just pacing the hallways and I had the lines, "In the midst of terror, in the face of fear, I will not be shaken, I know you're near, Oh God" come to mind. Even though I had no idea what was gonna happen to her I knew that through it all God is good, loving and faithful. There was a rootedness that I felt even in the face of terror. I knew that I was rooted in the Fathers love for me and my family and that even through the confusion and chaos his "Goodness and mercy will follow me all the days of my life". Sure enough as the story unfolded some more, three days and two nights later we left the hospital and she had no cast, no boot, no surgery and she even started walking by the time we got home. Nothing short of a miracle. Even before we left the hospital we were given enough money to cover our medical bills, someone cleaned our house for us, someone bought us a new car and we were brought meals sent endless amounts of phone calls and texts of support. His goodness and mercy followed us.
