Memorial fund for Mathew Yates

Mathew Yates lived in Wonthaggi with his fiance Kelly. Mathew was born with a congenital heart defect and had many cardiac surgeries over his 44 years. Mathew was waiting on further surgery for his heart prior to the covid-19 outbreak. Mathew was a kind and giving person and always the first person to offer assistance to others, even though his health made this more difficult as time passed.

Unfortunately during the covid-19 outbreak Mathew's heart surgery was put on hold. In the 12 months or so that Mathew was waiting, his health deteriorated and the surgery became urgent. At the start of June Mathew went in for surgery to repair his aorta and to replace a valve in his heart. Unfortunately when the surgeons got in during the surgery, they discovered more extensive damage to Mathew's heart than they had anticipated. They attempted to repair this in a 13 hour surgery. Mathew came out of surgery and over the next 2 days, experienced set back after set back during his recovery which involved multiple organ failure. Unfortunately early in the morning on Sunday the 6th of June, Mathew lost his hard fought battle and passed away.

This fundraising is to help assist with the cost associated with Mathew's funeral and memorial service.
