Hello, my name is Matthew Martinez. I am 14 years old and I am a black belt in Taekwondo. I have been doing Taekwondo for 5 years now. Through my Taekwondo journey, I have competed in multiple tournaments throughout the United States and won multiple 1st place gold medals and trophies. In December, 2017 I fought in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and I am now on the National B Team for the Amateur Athletic Union.
In April,2018, the Amateur Athletic Union is going to Hamburg, Germany to compete against world competitors . As a B team member, I am self- funded in order to go to tournaments with the team. This tournament is the German Open and it is a G2. G2 tournaments help you accumulate points so I can increase my ranking as a world competitor based on my age/weight category. My end goal is to compete in the World Championships which could lead to a spot on the US Olympic team. I am trying to raise $3,000 by March 31 for my airfare, hotel, and miscellaneous expenses.
