“On July 3rd at approximately 14:43 hours, the Charleroi Fire Department was requested to assist Monessen, Station 81, with a structure fire. First arriving units confirmed a working structure fire. Engine 3, Squad 1, and Car 1 all went enroute with full crews.”

“Unfortunately, while searching the second floor for the children, a floor joist broke sending Captain Matt Prentice from the second floor down to the first floor. With the help of numerous firefighters Matt was removed from the building and LifeFlighted to UPMC Mercy with serious traumatic injuries. We are happy to report Matt is doing well and in good spirits. “
