Mathew Head needs a hand
For the last 8 weeks Mat has been following a dream at Fight Like a Pro, he wanted to experience what its was like to emulate his son, and other familiy members all of who are champion boxers. He also saw the Fight Like a Pro 10 week challenge as an opportunity to in his words "lead a good life after a bad one".
Mat had done a lot of hard work just to get into the program losing 15+ kilos so he could get through the tough 10 week course (he trains 6 days a week). Each fighter earns a name given to him by the trainers and Mat was given "Razorback". The trainers explained that Mat has a quiet strength, but don't cross him. He values family above anything else and his beautiful wife has been with Mat right throughout his journey.
Mat has earned the respect of the other men in his groups (#42"s), the trainers and the other "Bettermen" who have been through the Fight Like a Pro journey.
During an open spa where friends and family get to see the culmination of all the hard work you have done and as acts as a warm up to the big night, Mat tore his bicep muscle from the bone. He didnt stop fighting just switched his stance and finished the round. He went straight to the hospital and has an operation scheduled for 13 December to reattach his muscle to the bicep. Mat will not be able to earn an income for likely 2 months as he is a self employed commercial floor layer, a physical job requiring a lot of lifting.
Gavin Topp the legend who is the founder of Fight Like a Pro wants to create "better men". Its a phrase you here a dozen times in the gym everyday. To this end one of the key goals of the Fight Like a Pro is to create better men. Mat is a better man but he needs help to cover the time he will need to recover from his injuries.
Mat needs help to complete his "journey",he hasnt asked for help he isnt that type of guy. But he needs it. Lets help Mat complete his journey, not in the ring as he had originally hoped... but outside the ring where it really counts. Lets help a brother and let him know that we are all in his corner.
