Matty J's Recovery

Last Thursday, our dear Matty J had a tough fall off a ladder while painting in Baltimore. He has been in good hands in the Shock Trauma Unit at The Univeristy of Maryland Medical Center. Doctors are monitoring some brain swelling and we're waiting for several skull fractures and a partially collaped lung to heal. He'll remain heavily sedated in ICU for now. His love, Josie, sits by his side and Matt is surrounded by family while he sleeps.  

We're extremely hopeful for Matt's full recovery, but the road will be long. He'll be in the hospital for at least another week and Josie will be taking unpaid family emergency leave. While their insurance is good, the list of expenses continues to grow and there is still a lot of unknown. 

Matt and Josie are two of the most warm, loving and generous people we know. At the same time, they're uncomfortable asking others for help during this time of need. As we told Josie last night, it's time to let their support system step up because she and Matt have done so much for so many. After all, that's a key reason communities exist - to take care of each other. 

Please consider donating what you can to support Matt and Josie so the two of them can focus on Matt's healing instead of healthcare costs and mortgage payments.
