Matt Smith: Road To Recovery

On April 9 2017 Matt was heading home on West road, on the east side of Okanogan Lake to Killany Beach. One of the dogs was jumping into the front seat and caused him to go off the road and roll the truck over an embankment. He got out of the truck about 20ft and collapsed on a service road. His 2 dogs were with him and laid by his side for 2 hours before he was discovered. He was taken to Vernon hospital and then transferred to Kelowna's ICU unconscious. Matt's injuries included: 3 brain bleeds, 2 collar bone fractures, 3 broken ribs, 3 lung punctures, a lacerated liver, body bruises and cuts needing stiches. Matt has made a lot of progress since then. He is in Kelowna, eating solid food, doing physio and will begin rehab. It will be a long road to recovery and going home.
