On 17 July 2021, our father and friend, Matt Kurtz suddenly passed away in Phoenix, Arizona. Unfortunately, Matt did not have insurance and the family is seeking financial assistance to assist his children and ex-wife Amy’s current and future needs. No donation is too small. Any assistance you may provide is most sincerely appreciated.
Matt is survived by his loving ex-wife Amy and his two amazing children, Gavin (18) and Madelyn (10). Amy was an active member of the Brophy Catholic High School Mother’s Guild in Arizona, where she and Matt’s eldest son, Gavin recently graduated from high school. Matt was really proud of Gavin's recent Brophy Catholic High School graduation and acceptance as a freshman at Arizona State University, as well as Madelyn's continued attendance at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Grade School in Arizona. He was a long serving President of the St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Grade School Wildcat Dad’s club and the infamous Friday Fish Frys, where Gavin graduated from, and his daughter Madelyn will attend as a fifth grader this fall.
Matt is also survived by his caring mother, Kathy, his sisters: Beth, Jamie & Kerrie and his brother Joe, and Joe’s family: Sharise, Alanah, & Shareef, all of whom appreciate the love and support of family and friends who knew Matt and are helping them honor his memory.
Matt truly loved Arizona and built a life there for his family for nearly 20 years. His love for hunting, camping, the outdoors and riding his bike was infectious. Everyone who knew Matt loved him. He was the face of Leksfixit as the manager and worked hard as a mentor and friend to all who knew him for nearly 46 years. Though Matt’s funeral and burial services will take place in his hometown in Wisconsin, the family is still working on a plan to have a future Memorial for Matt in Arizona. Details will be forthcoming as they are finalized in the near term.
If you are looking for a way to help the family, please consider a donation to either Go Fund Me account created by the family (1- Family Funeral Costs; 2-Education/Medical/Family needs for Gavin, Madelyn & Amy) to account for immediate and future needs of the family as they all work through this tragedy. Please continue to send prayers and love for our family as we work through losing our father, brother and friend at this time of great sadness and honoring his memory now and in the future.
**Update. We cannot thank each and every one of your for your generosity and out pouring of love and support. We decided to increase thetotal to address more future needs since some folks reached out saying we should increase the amount. We truly appreciate each donation no matter what. Thank you!
