Matt & Kristine's Journey to Adopt

Donation protected
Dear Family & Family,

For all of you who have ever said we would make great parents, here is where our next chapter starts!

A little background on us!

We met October 12th 2002 at Binghamton University (which neither one of us attended school there). It was a rare chance meeting but from that day they continued to talk daily and things quickly grew, we dated long distance for 2 years. We would drive 5 hours just to see each other on weekends.  We both played college sports so we took turns going out to see one another depending on whose sport was in season.

After Kristine Graduated she moved to Beverly MA to be with Matt. A year later they started a new journey and moved to SC so Matt could start his career in the fire service.

On February 12th 2007 our love story grew, we got engaged! It was the greatest pre valentine’s day of all time! Immediately the planning started. The date was set for March 1, 2008, which would be the best day of our lives (to date).

Starting our family!

During our dating days we knew right away that we wanted to start a family when the time was right. After being married for 2 years we decided there would never be the perfect time to start a family but we knew we wanted a family so we decided to give it a try! It isn't until you try that you know how hard it actually is to start a family and timing can be everything. We started to become frustrated and emotions were running high. We decided to talk to a doctor about it after a year with no success. After many tests and a surgery for Kristine we begin doing infertility treatments. After three failed attempts we decided that we needed to take some time off, the emotional ups and downs and heart-ache was too much to take anymore. After a while we decided to seek out another specialist and get a second opinion. We were told the same thing “you are a perfect candidate” we felt more comfortable with this doctor so we began the same tests again to start the process over again. Well, that's what we thought until we really sat down and thought about it some more. All that time and effort, all those medications, and did we already mention the cost? Did we want to take another gamble, go through all those emotions physically and mentally again? It was a lot of money to risk when we knew there was another option for us that was truly pulling on our heart strings.  In this whole process our main goal was to be promoted so to speak to “mommy” and “daddy”.

Our next journey!

ADOPTION!

Making this decision has been the best thing we’ve done together, after countless talks and heart to hearts. Through all of this, the one thing that has always been there is the fact that we have love and faith in our hearts and we want to share it. What better way than to share it than with a baby, our baby, who deserves it more than anything else.

We are thrilled and excited to start this process, having a child and being parents has been a dream of ours for many many years.

To say it takes a village to adopt is an understatement. We are going to need the support of our friends and family! As you may have already guessed the cost of adoption is going to be the next obstacle we plan to overcome. We have a plan, but every little bit of help will go a long way.

Hank Fortner, Founder of Adopt Together, Once said “Only 2% of couples that look into adoption follow through because of the financial burden.” We don’t want the financial struggle of adoption to keep us from starting our family.

Our journey has been filled with heartache, pain and loss. But it's also filled with hope and faith that our time is coming. Most of you know that we are not typically people who ask for help from others, however, we have made the humble decision to seek support in our mission to begin the next chapter of our life. We want you to know that we are grateful for everyone who is supporting us in any way at all. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

We appreciate you taking the time to read our story! Most of you know that we are not typically people who ask for help from others, however, we have made the humble decision to seek support in our mission to begin the next chapter of our life.

We appreciate you taking the time to read our story!
