Matos-Martinez Family Relief Fund

Jose and Abigail Matos-Martinez, Puerto Rican natives, currently reside in Frederick, MD.  Jose is an active military member who is currently serving a deployment overseas. Abigail is a Program Assistant at Frederick Community College. Their families back in Puerto Rico are suffering the aftermath of Hurricane Maria. The family has disclosed that family members in PR are in dire need. They are quickly running out of water, gas and food to sustain the family. Abigail is working on bringing family members over to the U.S. to stay while Puerto Rico recovers from the devastating catastrophe.

At this point, the Matos-Martinez family is flying out 4 school-aged nephews who are out of school for an unknown period of time, and Abigail's mother, who suffers from medical conditions desperately requiring medical attention.  

Airfare prices off island have increased dramatically in recent days since the hurricane. The financial burden of flying out 5 people is great. Additionally, the family will have to carry additional costs to the household once the Puerto Rican family members arrive. 

As a community, we would like to stand together with the Matos-Martinez family and alleviate some of the unexpected financial need they are facing. Any donation amount towards the cause would be greatly appreciated. If you are unable to contribute financially, there are still other ways you can help! FCC's Adult Education team will be collecting toiletries and food items that the family can use once the members from Puerto Rico arrive.
