Mateo Spreads his Wings!

 
Dear Friends and Family,


      Mateo’s life has just been filled with so many possibilities by his acceptance into an amazing private Special Needs school in Walnut Creek, CA. Mateo’s new school specializes in teaching neurodiverse children from all walks of life. From the ground up, they’re living their Mission Statement by providing tailor-made, relationship-based interventions collaboratively for each one of the beautiful children enrolled in the school. For so many reasons, we are brimming with excitement at all this potential for our little guy.

    As life goes, even with such a cause to celebrate, we are reaching out to our community for financial support. The lion’s share of the financial weight we have covered; however, on top of what’s provided in his current care plan, it’s come to light Mateo needs a 1:1 aide during his school day for both the ’21-’22 and ’22-’23 school years and the corresponding Summers. The aide will support Mateo’s communication and social participation across settings at this critical developmental time in his life. Mateo has never been so receptive to learning, and he is exploding, developmentally! In just the couple of weeks since Mateo’s started, their highly skilled staff who specialize in speech, behavioral, occupational, and physical therapies, have made a markedly noticeable difference in his life. With your help, we’ll be able to maximize all these incredible services and further bolster our little guy to grow, thrive, and fly.  The prospect of having an independent means to communicate with an AAC device (Augmented Alternative Communication) in place of verbal communication is one of the key goals that will be tackled with this 1:1 aide first.

     A long time ago I heard a quote that went, “If a lot of us do a little, then a little of us don’t have to do a lot,” and in that spirit, we ask for your support. No matter how small, we’re profoundly grateful for any and all help.
