Match 3

RED TRUNK PROJECT NEEDS YOUR HELP.

The Red Trunk Project (tm) needs to raise $40,000 in the next months. By chance, a member of the Red Trunk Team works for a large international foundation that has a 3-to-1 employee matching donations program. (We can't say which foundation, other than it's one of the biggest in the world. Seriously big. You've heard of it.)

This matching grant program means that for every dollar you give, the large foundation will match 3 dollars. You give $10, Red Trunk gets $40. Which means that instead of the forty grand, all we need to raise is $10,000.

We're looking for small donations from everyone we know. 10 or 20 bucks a pop. Please, throw something in the hat. And if you want to donate more, please feel free to do so.

It's important to point out, however, that your  contribution WILL NOT be tax deductible. Yes, Red Trunk Project is a 501(c)(3) corporation, but because the donations are flowing through the employee, you can't claim the deduction.

(It's important to point out that the employee will NOT be taking the deduction. The employee most certainly does not want to be audited by the IRS.)

If you want to make a tax-deductible donation, please donate through any of the DONATE buttons in the Red Trunk website .

WHAT IS THE RED TRUNK PROJECT?

The Red Trunk Project cultural initiative is dedicated to preparing the world’s children to better understand and empathize with their fellow citizens around the globe.

By introducing today's children to cultures other than their own, Red Trunk Project sparks a global dialogue to get children to Respect Every Difference (the notion that inspires the R-E-D in Red Trunk Project) and thereby lays the groundwork for a brighter, more inclusive future.

Red Trunk Project (tm) introduces children to daily-life objects of people from world cultures: clothing, utensils, musical instruments, books, arts and crafts, accompanied by audio and video recordings which contextualize them.

Opening young hearts and minds to cultures which differ from their own — often in distant parts of the world that they might not ever travel to themselves — Red Trunk Project connects children with one another in substantial and meaningful ways.

Much of the world today remains deeply divided by race, nationality, faith, and politics.

Red Trunk Project gives children around the world an in-depth, hands-on exposure to one another, doing its part to break down barriers and replace divisiveness, hatred, and violence with tolerance, and a shared understanding of one another.

Red Trunk Project shines a light on what makes us similar while ultimately celebrating our fascinating and unique differences.

WHAT WILL RED TRUNK DO WITH THE $40,000?

The Red Trunk team will be traveling to Rwanda in March to gather artifacts, interviews, and materials to make the second set of Red Trunks. This . (Budgets at the bottom of this page.)

The first step for making these trips possible was a donation of 200,000 AAdvantage air miles from a generous supporter. The second step for making these trips happen is a donation from YOU.
