Hello.
My name is Jose Martinez. I recently got accepted into Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science to complete a Masters in Biomedical Science. This program will allow me to take classes alongside medical students and, in addition, it will grant me an interview at the Chicago Medical School. It has been my dream for many years to go to medical school and provide care to the underserved population. This acceptance is the opportunity I have been waiting for to reach my goals. Unfortunately, I am not eligible for federal student aid because I am classified under the category Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA). My ineligibility excludes me from receiving any financial aid and applying for any federal loans. I am working my hardest to get approved for a private loan, but since I am not a U.S. Citizen, I have come across another barrier and therefore, do not qualify to get one on my own. I need a cosigner, but due to special circumstances no one in my family can help me with that.
Since graduating from UC Davis, I have worked full time as a GI Endoscopy Technician. I have gathered enough money to pay my rent and textbooks, for a few months, but that’s about it. I have worked hard my entire life, both in school and at my jobs. I have never been the type of person to ask for money, but now is the time that I need people's help the most. The time has come for me to take that next step in my life and I am ready, but in order to do that, I need everyone's assistance in helping me pay for my first quarter's tuition that is until I can get approved for a private loan. My first quarter fees are due August 4th. I am sorry for the short notice. I got my acceptance letter this past Friday, July 21st and my options to pay for tuition are running out. Your help, in any amount, would be much appreciated and will get me that much closer to starting graduate school and hopefully medical school a year later.
