My name is Lt(N) Andrew MacGillivray and along with CPO1 Jean-Francois Bouillon we have started this Go Fund Me to raise money to support Duane's family. The funds collected will be divided between the three children in trust and managed by Duane's sister, Toni, and their legal guardians. The children will be able to withdraw the funds once they reach a certain age (to be determined).
Duane was lost at sea on Monday 14 December 2020. Recovery efforts by HMCS WINNIPEG, the United States military and United States coast guard were unsuccessful and the search was called off.
CPO1 Bouillon and I sailed with Duane for 2 years onboard HMCS VANCOUVER while he was a member of our Deck department. He was a Sailor First Class at the time, however, his knowledge, experience and leadership was of a higher rank. Duane always maintained a positive attitude, even in the toughest conditions and he was a Sailor's Sailor.
He will be missed by his 2 sons Aden (10) and Mason (7), his step-daughter Jayme (15), girlfriend Tracy, sister Toni and the RCN family.
He was a valuable member of HMCS WINNIPEG, the Royal Canadian Navy, the Canadian Armed Forces and our great country.
