Massey-Strong

A couple of months ago, our family (The Tedder's) went on a camping trip with our best friends- The Massengills. During the camping trip, we were out on the lake in our boat. Suddenly, a huge storm came out of nowhere and we couldn't get back to the dock before lighting, thunder, and heavy rain were on us. It was pretty terrifying - as we had 4 kids ages 6 and under on the boat! The guys quickly tied the boat off on an island and made a make shift shelter out of a a tarp to keep us from getting totally pelted by rain and wind. Michael's position took the worst of the weather as he sheltered his family from the elements - all while laughing and cracking jokes to keep the kids from being scared. That's just one of many examples of the kind of guy he is. He is the kind of friend you want to have that will show up in the middle of the night when you are stranded, spend all weekend helping you cut down a giant tree or build a shed or paint when you need to sell your house - all true stories.

On August 21st, after dealing with lower abdominal pain during the day while watching the eclipse with his family, Micheal was in so much pain that Jennifer rushed him to the hospital where doctors found and removed a large mass in right testicle. After testing, it was confirmed that the mass was cancer. Micheal has been diagnosed with Stage 3b Pure Seminoma cancer. He starts chemo with a 5 day stay in the hospital on September 18th.

Before the cancer diagnosis even happened, his wife, Jennifer learned that the gym where she worked would be closing it's doors - leaving her with no job. While it is a blessing that Jennifer will be able to be home to attend to Micheal's medical needs, bills still need to be paid and Micheal won't be able to work continuously through this process. We want to raise money to pay for the basic needs and bills that the Massengills will have during this difficult time. Money will go towards groceries, household bills and mortgage payments. Jennifer and Micheal have 2 precious children (aged 7 and 3). Dealing with a cancer diagnosis with two young children in the home is stressful enough. Join us in assuring Micheal and Jennifer that monthly bills won't be an added stressor.
