Our oldest son Mason has been fighting a devastating diagnosis of osteosarcoma( an aggressive bone cancer) since July 2017, a month after graduating from San Ramon Valley High School. He has bravely endured harsh cytotoxic MAP chemotherapy, an above the knee right leg amputation & is recovering from a January 2018 thoracotomy that removed 40% of his right lung. Frontline chemotherapy is ineffective & Mason has just begun a clinical trial at Stanford a few days after his 19th birthday(February 20). Our family prays this treatment will stop the metastasis in his body & help him survive this disease. He has left lung lesions the doctors are closely watching & we all continue to try to line up potential beneficial therapies to help him. We hope he may be able to have Mifamurtide/Mepact immunotherapy, but it's been months & months of waiting & even more red tape paperwork. This drug is available as standard of care in Europe as well as many other countries around the world. It is not FDA approved for use here in America & very expensive.($100,000+). The FDA has approved it for Mason. The drug company has agreed to provide it. Stanford hospital has authorized Mason to be ethically given the drug. The last step is getting our United Healthcare insurance to PAY for the treatment! 
Please help our son & our family! Mason has not been able to work since his diagnosis. He has only practiced a few times on his prosthetic leg due to continuing treatments & surgeries. He rarely sees his friends face to face. Thank God for online games(Who would have thought a parent would ever say that about their teen?) His manual car that he barely had gotten to practice driving on before his illness has been paid on month to month as we could not bear to give it up. We will have to sell it & hope to buy an automatic car that he may one day be able to drive(manual is just not possible for him now). We desperately need assistance with medical bills, financial costs, meals, gas, expenses. Prayers & well wishes are appreciated as this means everything to us! Thank you & much love from us all!
