Mason's Wheelchair Accessible Car

Donation protected
Mason is my 5 year old son, at 5 months old Mason was diagnosed with Spastic Quadriplegic Cerebral palsy and Epilepsy.

It has been a long road for Mason but he has never given up and neither have we.

Mason is never without a smile, laugh or hiya for those he meets, I promise you he will melt your heart.

As Mason gets older he is getting bigger and heavier, tasks that used to be simple for me and those who care for Mason have now become a struggle.

Getting Mason in and out of the car is a major issue. At present I have to lift Mason in and out of a normal car seat.

The car I am driving is not suitable as I cannot fit his buggy into it, he is due to transfer to a wheelchair in the next couple of months so will need a wheelchair accessible car.

At present we rarely use the car unless someone else follows me in another vehicle to transport his buggy. It’s a nightmare as anyone can imagine.

Mason is is very limited as to what he can do. It is highly unlikely that he will ever walk and he has very little use in both of his hands.

The Cerebral Palsy Mason was diagnosed with is Spastic Quadriplegia. This means all four of his limbs are effected by it. Mason is peg fed and is unlikely to ever eat or drink orally.

As you can imagine lifting Mason in and out of the car is such a struggle, however we now have the added worry of his peg line getting caught/being pulled out whilst lifting him in and out.

I am now on pain medication for my back and shoulders because lifting Mason has put such a strain on me, having a wheelchair accessible car would mean I could transfer Mason into it without lifting him.

It breaks my heart to think of what Mason is missing out on because it’s too uncomfortable for him to travel in the car and more importantly because his buggy won’t fit into the boot of the car and neither will the wheelchair we are waiting on.

That is why Michelle & I have set up this fundraising page.

I want to give Mason the best memories and be able to take him to appointments without having to worry about how I’m going to manage with him.

Mason has a 4 year old brother who is also missing out because we just can’t travel, It breaks my heart that we can’t just get into the car and go where we need to go easily.

Mason needs a wheelchair accesible car so he can have a better quality of life and become more included in his community.

Please share this page to get the message to as many people as possible, so that we can be successful in the goal we have set.

Thank you for taking the time to read Mason's story.
