Mason’s Transplant Recovery
Donation protected
Hi all. Instead of make a new fundraiser, I decided to just remake this one to suit our current needs as a family.
Today is October 10th. Mason had a bone marrow transplant on August 19th. We’ve been living in Boston since August 7th and were supposed to be home by now but Mason has a new virus that could keep us here several more weeks to months.
We've received support from friends and family as well as the cancer institute out here but the longer we’re here, the harder it gets.
We just need enough to hold us through the next month or two while our future remains uncertain and our income remains zero.
Previous Fundraiser Goal:
My son Mason Quirk is undergoing a Bone Marrow Transplant in August 2022. The conditioning (chemotherapy) for his transplant has an 80% chance of leaving him infertile or almost infertile. Boston Children’s has an experimental program for fertility preservation, saving a small portion of tissue that is the building blocks for fertility (sperm) and the hope is that by the time he is of age to think about his own family, this tissue will be used to restore his fertility.
We have a lot to think about financially in the coming weeks and months and the initial storage fees are $700 out of pocket. This is an additional cost we did not plan for and we want desperately to give this choice of a family some day to our child.
Thank you in advance for your consideration towards our fundraiser.
