TEAM Mason.. Ready for battle!

First off, thank you so much for visiting this site for our little man.. Beginning of january 2014 our son Mason was having a hard time breathing and complained of a lot of chest pain.  We took him to the ER and he had a xray and we were told that he had pneumonia.  After his followup with the doctor after that I still wasnt satisfied and knew something was still wrong so we then took him to a childrens ER and had a repeat xray.  We were told then that his pneumonia had cleared up but he now had a viral infection.  Fast forward almost a month later and our little man still wasnt himself and was very inactive and wouldnt eat much or drink and could tell something was still hurting him.  Monday February 10, 2014 changed our lives forever.  We took him this time to a actual childrens hospital, Scottish Rite Childrens Hospital in Atlanta, GA.  Immediately in the ER they performed blood work, xrays, ultrasound and gave him an IV drip with some fluids.  We then found out within a few hours from arriving that Mason had a very large tumor mass in his liver, and that he has whats called Hepatoblastoma.. liver cancer.  Our world was turned upside down.  We now are waiting for the results of the biopsy and to then be able to see what kind of chemo treatment our little guy needs.  His biopsy didnt go as planned, he started bleeding and they were not able to stop it.  The only way to stop it is pressure so they put pressure gauze on the mass and closed him back up.  He was then brought to the PICU and left sedated with a breathing tube.  Our next step is getting him back in surgery to make sure the bleeding has stopped and then give him time to heal before chemo starts.  This cancer is very curable since even if the chemo is not able to shrink it enough for removal, he will then need a transplant.  We do not have the best health insurance for something this serious and my husband has missed many days of work so far and im sure will be missing many more.  Ive been a stay at home mom since day one and Mason has an older brother named Benjamin who is 3 1/2.  This is going to be a very long journey and road ahead but with everyones support and prayers, Mason can make it through ANYTHING put in front of him!!!
