Mason Eerbeek Intestinal Transplant

My son Mason Eerbeek was transported by medical plane to University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska to be evaluated for an intestinal transplant. Mason only has 30 cm of small intestine and 2/3rds of his large intestine remaining after multiple surgeries to remove damaged and dying tissue when he was 2 years old. He traveled to Omaha with his mom, but the Air Ambulance could only take one parent. I had to follow them in my van with Mason's wheelchair and all of personal items we thought we would need. My van had to repaired before I could leave, and I had to borrow money just to get it on the road. We were told the evaluation could take a week or two, but recovery time for a transplant would be 6 months. I had to leave my oldest 3 children behind in Muskegon Michigan, as I had no clue where we would be sleeping or how we were going to eat or shower. They are being well cared for, but it has put an enormous financial strain on our family. Mason's mom Tanya took a leave of absence from her job as a restaurant manager and as an IT Specialist for the Army National Guard. I was the only contractor in Muskegon County for my company, so they are forced to replace me. We are searching for employment in Omaha, but Mason's procedures are a scheduling concern, and we don't want to miss anything. We are hoping to raise enough money to pay for daycare for our 11, 9, and 7 year olds still in Michigan, and living expenses while we try to get Mason healthy enough to come home. The $22,444 would be enough to finish paying for car repairs and travel costs, as well as rent and day care for the summer, and allow us to be at Mason's bedside when he needs us most.
