Mason Diehl

On December 5th, my uncle, Mason Diehl, went to Mon General Hospital in Morgantown for what was to be a simple procedure to remove a small benign spot on his right lung.

Long story short, the spot was not as small as they thought, nor was it benign. The surgeon was able to completely remove the mass as well as enough of the surrounding area to declare him cancer free. He spent the next two weeks in the hospital recovering before being briefly discharged right before Christmas.

The day after Christmas, he had to be taken back to Mon General emergency room where it was determined that he had developed several blood clots in the lung along with pneumonia. He has remained in the ICU since that day.

My dear Aunt Esther has been by his side day in and day out - only leaving at night to go to the hotel room (Holiday Inn on Pineview Drive, which is located at the bottom of the hill from the hospital) for a few hours of sleep.

Over the last month, she has accumulated a $2500 hotel bill, and with him being projected to spend at least another month in the hospital, the total will likely reach $5000 or more. My mother Susan, my sister Shellie and I would like this to be something she doesn’t have to worry about and to be able to completely focus on his recovery without the added stress.

Any amount of donation would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much!
