Masks for Memphis

The year 2020 so far has presented us with some truly unprecedented challenges, but has also inspired equally unprecedented methods of supporting and caring for our neighbors. It is in the spirit of this support that I write to you today.
As Tennessee prepares to slowly re-open our businesses and services, we must still be vigilant about preventing further spread of the COVID-19 pandemic. One of the most accessible methods of protecting our citizens from this airborne virus is the face mask. Frontline first responders are equipped with face masks, and many essential service providers are using them as well. But how do we arm our citizens?
Effective immediately, I am partnering with other local leaders to distribute masks to our underserved citizens. Additionally, we are paying local crafters to make the masks at home (according to CDC guidelines) in an effort to return some income to families who are not able to work at this time.
With this letter, I am asking you to consider the value of the safety of your family, your neighbors, your friends, and your fellow citizens. Certainly, there is no price one can assign to the life of a Memphian, but I would like you and your colleagues to reflect on what may be a generous donation to this effort.
Platinum Donors: $1,000
Gold Donors: $500
Silver Donors: $250
Bronze Donors: $100
Caring Neighbors: $1 to $99
The ultimate goal of this project is to put masks in the hands of citizens who need them, as well as income in the hands of neighbors in need. The hand-crafted masks will be distributed in a safe, drive-up/walk-up format for those who are able, and can be delivered without contact to seniors and disabled persons in need.
At this time of crisis, I would like to ask you for a donation to “Masks for Memphis.” We have certainly not seen the end of this pandemic yet, but with the support of people like you, we can continue to do our level best to protect our most vulnerable residents.
