MASKS FOR YOU
Donation protected
Hi everyone! We( Haonan, Leah, and Emily) are senior and sophomores at St. Andrew's Episcopal School in Maryland. We are starting our non-profit business program, Masks For You, aimed to raise funds to buy medical equipment including surgical and N95 masks. Everyone recognizes the severity of the Coronavirus pandemic since there are now 774 confirmed cases of Covid-19 and 5 deaths in Maryland (as of 3/27/2020). Many hospitals in the Maryland/DC area are experiencing a shortage of medical equipment. The CDC has suggested “in settings where facemasks are not available, HCP might use homemade masks (e.g., bandana, scarf) for care of patients with COVID-19 as a last resort”. Homemade masks however are not as protective as real manufactured masks. In this situation, Masks For You is raising funds to buy medical equipment and deliver them DIRECTLY to local hospitals (including Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Suburban Hospital in Bethesda, and George Washington University Hospital in DC). At the same time, we understand that many people are worried about the quality of these masks and we would like to clarify that the masks that we have purchased follow the updated FDA guidelines (NIOSH42CFR84-1995) and were approved by the CDC and by NIH. We have posted all the necessary documents below.
Besides purchasing N95 masks, part of this money also goes to surgical masks that Masks For You will donate DIRECTLY to the staff of local grocery stores, especially cashiers and delivery personnel. We are partnering with local Giant Food stores to provide their working staff with surgical masks to help keep our community safe. Other grocery stores and supermarkets are also welcome to reach out to us. Your donations will really help. We really appreciate your generous help and if you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.
