Our Mission
With the emergence of COVID-19, lots of people have stepped up to assist in their own way. A common theme around the world has been making homemade masks and donating to a local area in need. However, everyone has their time constraints and may not be consistent in their donations. Our goal is to consistently donate to the areas we have partnered with and ease some pressure from individual volunteers. Healthcare professionals, essential workers, and more in our community are seeking donations of items called PPE (personal protective equipment), and that is what we want to provide. We also hope to reach the associations that are requesting donations for PPE, such as homeless shelters and nursing homes.
~We will be sewing masks at home and donating to hospitals, police stations, nursing homes, homeless shelters, and more
~All of our items will include thoughtful notes (multiple cards will be included in the package with masks)
Who will benefit?
It may be nothing new to hear the volunteers are actively sewing masks at home and donating to frontline workers. But what about in your local area? Within Santa Clara County, there still remain numerous places that are requesting reusable mask donations such as homeless shelters, nursing homes, hospitals, police stations, and more. The professionals, homeless, elderly, and more will be the types of people you are helping with your kind donation.
The funds will be used for:
-Masks
-- 100% cotton fabric (recommended fabric by the CDC)
-- elastics
-- basic sewing supplies such as needles and thread
Why donate now?
This is a pressing moment in history with COVID-19 plaguing our country. With over ONE MILLION confirmed cases and over 67,000 deaths in the US, it is important to help in every way we can and as soon as we can. Without active efforts from our community as a whole, this pandemic will keep escalating. Santa Clara County itself has over 2,000 cases and over 100 deaths. It is essential to start making change. If you are feeling bad about not contributing earlier, your contributions NOW will still be just as effective. For those who have been proactive in donating and volunteering, this program is guaranteed to fulfill your expectations
Your donation and support will be greatly appreciated by the people of our community. It will also massively expand our output and allow us to help an increasing number of people. Making masks is something the team enjoys, but above all, supporting our community brings us the greatest joy. We hope you feel the same!
