Mask Up NYC
To say 2020 has been a hot mess would be the understatement of the ages. At the top of a laundry list of events sits COVID-19: a pandemic that truly put everything on hold. As we prepare for the second wave, we’re constantly told to wear a mask and wash our hands — which seems easy, but is also a privilege. For those without a home or without income — a community that is growing everyday — this proves to be more of a challenge.
Just think:
- Where do you wash your hands if you can’t go into a building without a mask?
- How do you buy a mask without money?
- Most importantly: How do you stay healthy without any level of protection?
Since the 1870s, The Bowery Mission has been serving homeless and hungry New Yorkers and providing services that meet their immediate needs. In response to coronavirus, The Bowery Mission also started providing masks, hand sanitizer, gloves and more to keep people safe. With operations depending largely on donations, they need help!
So I’ve done the math. A box of 100 3-ply, disposable surgical masks costs $11.90 at Walmart . With your donations, I will purchase as many masks as possible and deliver them to The Bowery Mission. If we hit our goal mark of $595, we could donate 5,000 masks to help protect homeless New Yorkers from COVID-19!
Don’t get me wrong: I know times are tough. If you can donate $5 or simply spread the word to a friend, we can make a huge difference. I'll be posting pictures here throughout this journey to keep you all updated and for 100% transparency! Thank you for your time and hopefully your participation!
