Mask Equity Alberta!

On behalf of the Alberta Activist Collective and Protect Our Province, we are raising $25,000 (CDN) or more for the purchase and delivery of approximately fifteen thousand Canadian respirator masks . We call this initiative Mask Equity Alberta!

 

The purchase order will be made through CAPPEM, the Canadian Association of PPE Manufacturers. CAPPEM is organizing with various groups across the country.

 

Between our obvious moral obligations to help the less fortunate, the impact of rampant infection amongst structurally marginalized people should concern us all. With a higher prevalence of severe outcomes to disease, mass-infection can only introduce misery and strain not only into the lives of citizens, but into the structure of our healthcare system.

Secondarily, many of the organization's supporting these groups may not themselves be sufficiently equipped and protected.

Our priorities are to serve marginalized groups and families who are less able to help themselves and the workers/volunteers who help them.  This includes:

-Shelters
-Low income families
-Low income individuals
-Unhoused
-Immigration centers
-Volunteer organizations
-Hospices
-More

 

Every life we can protect from severe outcomes and infection is another life our EMS responders can save, another day off for our nurses, another reprieve in our ICU's.

 

The respirators will be delivered to Edmonton where they will be distributed to various outreach organizations throughout the province directly.

Amounts over $25,000 will be used for distribution, additional orders, and unforeseen costs!
