Mask Choice for Eagle Peak Montessori School

Hi, I am fundraising for legal fees to help parents at Eagle Peak Montessori School (EPMS) who want their children to have a choice.

So far, the Board at EPMS has stated that everyone needs to wear masks to protect others, but many students are suffering under their masks – we want to see our kids smile again. Help us raise funds to pay for legal fees to help our students have the chance to see each other smile again if they would like.

Eagle Peak Montessori is one of only a few schools in the state violating parents' rights!

There never was a legal mandate because the CDPH guidance for k-12 schools did not go through the administrative procedures act rule-making process. CDPH has conceded this in writing in court. Yet, Eagle Peak Montessori adopted a new school policy for the 2022-2023 school year stating that mask-wearing will be enforced until:

-County health departments have removed the “Strongly recommended” label for indoor spaces

-County health departments eliminate the mandate in health care settings

-There haven’t been any student-student transmission of COVID for 60 days

THIS VIOLATES THE LAW. Masks are only emergency use authorized and therefore require informed consent of the parent before this product can be used on their child.

IT SHOULD BE A PARENT'S CHOICE.

At the August 1st board meeting Zoom, Director Michelle Hammons said she takes it as her job to "ensure that no student will get sick while she’s director." To be clear, it is only her job to create an environment in her school where children thrive. She is not a health official or a doctor. This is a PUBLIC charter school and even the district it receives its charter from no longer "requires" masks.

The families are fed up. EPMS is the LAST school in the county to force children still to wear masks at school all day!

Help support the families of Eagle Peak file a lawsuit for a restraining order and injunction to get a judge to tell Director Hammons enough is enough!
