Hurricane Harvey Relief for Masis Family

Hurricane Harvey, a category 4 hurricane, hit the Southeast Texas coast pretty hard. While Houston was not directly hit, the arm bands of the storm wreaked havoc in many parts of the city, including the Meyerland area where my sister (Glenda), her husband (Richard), her elderly mother in law (Maria), her two teenage kids (Denise and Bryan) and her beloved German Shepherd (Bella) call home.

Her home, which she had been in since shortly before her first child was born 17 years ago and where all their children's memories live, has been destroyed.  She’s practically lost everything… Furniture, vehicles, appliances, toiletries, clothes, shoes, backpacks and school supplies that had just been purchased for my niece and nephew.  Beloved memories such as video tapes, pictures taken in the 70s, 80s and 90s that can't be replaced or recovered have all been swept away.

I can't thank the complete strangers with a heart of gold enough for finding them and rescuing them by boat.  Their dog Bella experienced lots of emotional stress from all of this and we think she had a seizure shortly after making it to dry land, though she seems much happier now.

Having gone through two prior floods (Memorial Day flood in May 2015 and Tax Day flood in April 2016) and having already lost a vehicle from this past experience, this tragedy that has occurred now has devasted them and is taking an emotional toll on the entire family.  Thankfully, they do have flood insurance and FEMA is offering them some assistance, however, this rebuilding process will take a lot of time.  There is a very long road ahead, one that will require an unprecedented amount of emotional stress, physical energy and financial assistance. We'd like to help her with some financial cushion to assist with relocation costs, immediate needs such as food/clothing, backpacks and school supplies for the kids, dog food and other needs for Bella, as well as other costs not covered by FEMA.  Anything that'll help bring their lives back to some normalcy.

Realizing we can't help her entirely on our own, we humbly ask for your assistance. I am her youngest sister of four total siblings and will make sure she receives all funds directly. Thank you for your contributions in advance. We are beyond grateful and thankful for any monetary help you can offer! Please share to help spread the word.
