Masha Thrift Co. is a Black-owned online thrift shop and consignment company that sources and sells clothing and lifestyle materials specifically catered to support the most underrepresented members of Black and other marginalized communities.
This store will source clothing, small home decor, and other materials from fashionable and forward-thinking donors; placing a heavy focus on sourcing plus size clothing and decor that reflects the lifestyles and tastes of Black and Brown communities. Phase I: Etsy.
The store will first be established via Etsy.com. Products listed will consist of donations from a community of dedicated investors who have contributed solely toward the launch of the store. Items will be sold at thrift store rates in order to establish cash flow and revenue toward the future of Masha Thrift Co.
Phase II: Consignment
Masha Thrift Co. will begin taking items on consignment along with donations. Sale profits will be split 60/40 (to accommodate the cost of shipping) between the store and the donor of the sold item.
Phase III: Online Domain + Brick & Mortar Location
Within two years of launch, Masha Thrift Co. will be relaunched via it's own online store/domain. Donations and sales through consignment will continue and the ability to sell and ship larger items will become a possibility. Future plans for the company include the launch of a brick and mortar location and the creation of name brand items.
How This Fund Will Be Used:
- Business licensing
- Securing a coworking space for operations
- Packaging for shipments and marketing materials
- Storage for inventory
I have chosen to purposely post a large and rather bold fundraising goal of $5,000 for this kickstarter, because I believe so much in this store. Whether we meet that goal or not I am beyond grateful for all of the support I've received so far.
