My mom has been very sick for as long as I can remember. When she was 18, she was diagnosed with lupus, a chronic autoimmune disease. She lives with daily pain and discomfort that most of us could never imagine.
She has been fighting kidney disease caused by lupus for several years, and as her numbers have progressively worsened I have watched her do everything she possibly could to stop its progression - cut out meat to maintain a low-protein diet, exercise frequently, strengthen her relationship with God. She has dedicated herself to healing to postpone this inevitable day as long as she could.
My mother is now in end stage renal failure and is praying for a living donor to gift her with a working kidney. When a person is in kidney failure, the options are very limited - kidneys do not regenerate like other tissues in the body. A new kidney would give my mom a normal life again. She is the strongest person I know and she continues to show this strength despite continuous obstacles.
A transplant and the corresponding medications can get very expensive. Our family appreciates your help donating to help offset any transplant-related expenses and medications not covered by insurance. It will also help my mom with expenses stemming from her inability to work during recovery.
