Mary’s Breast Cancer Fund for Medical Expenses

Mary, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend was diagnosed with Stage 2 Invasive Ductal Carcinoma (breast cancer) on 11/27/2018. 

Mary’s tumor tested positive for the HER 2 gene mutation, meaning she would need chemotherapy no matter what surgical decision she decides either have a (single mastectomy, double mastectomy, or lumpectomy).  HER 2 gene mutation means the cancer is fast growing and spreading.  Mary started undergoing chemotherapy treatment on 01/07/2019 and has successfully completed 5 rounds of chemotherapy, meaning she only has 1 round left! The medical bills are already starting to add up from all of the co-pays, having a port placed and unfortunately later removed, as well as the many ultrasounds and testing that each new week brings.  Each round of chemotherapy is $56,000!  Even though Mary has great health insurance from her previous employer through the Federal government, which we are thankful for, but it does not cover everything.

After each round of chemotherapy Mary is out of work for anywhere from 5-10 days depending on how the treatment affects her.  There are unfortunately lots of  bills going unpaid during this time due to her lack of work.  Once Mary has her surgery (date yet to be determined, sometime early June) she will be out of work for 3-6 weeks due to the surgery, and recovery time.  Mary’s income will be eliminated during this period of time.

Mary is the strongest person we know with the biggest, most caring heart.  She will do anything for anyone before doing things for herself. Mary has been through many challenges, but the one she is going through now is by far the toughest. Mary is going to knock it out of the park and beat this but she needs our help (whether she wants to ask for it or not!)
