Mary Lynne Cameron's Journey

Donation protected
As most of you know my big sister Mary Lynne is battling metastatic breast cancer. My sister is 45 years old and was lucky enough to marry the love of her life Ron. Together they have two beautiful girls. Adriana who is 9 and Elise 6.

Mary Lynne's journey started in December of 2011 when she found a lump in her right breast on Christmas Eve. The following March, on her wedding anniversary, she went in for surgery. They did a lumpectomy and cancer was discovered but they were hopeful they got everything. The months following were filled with many hospital visits, chemo treatments and radiation. After a year of courageous and relentless battling she was finally on the road to recovery.

But it didn't end there.

In the fall of 2014 she started with a cold which quickly turned into pneumonia. With an ongoing concern of her past, she was tested again and diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. It had now moved into both her lungs and into the lymph nodes between her lungs. She started oral chemo right away and continued to keep a hopeful and positive outlook for herself and everyone around her. Which she does very well. :) After struggling for months from pain in her left hip which had made it difficult to sleep in her own bed, she was able to find some comfort. However it has persisted and walking is becoming much more laboured. The cancer has now spread to her bones as well as a spot in her liver and ribs. With the new developments Mary Lynne was forced to leave her job as of March 10th to start treatments.

She is now under going a more aggressive intravenous chemo. This is similar to what she was on the first time but just a sister drug. Mary Lynne had a difficult time with it the first time so it's hard to anticipate what she now knows is ahead for her. She is now 8 weeks into it and has lost her hair, and has days were she feels sick and nauseous and can be very tired.

On top of all of this her husband Ron has lost his job. So needless to say this has surpassed a difficult time for all of them emotionally as well as financially. I want to do my best to take some of that worry away so she can enjoy the time she has when she feels well with her husband, girls, family and friends.

The money we raise together will be used to help them with their mortgage and bill payments, their move from their house to more appropriate one floor living, and medical supplies that are not covered through benefits or Ohip. It will also go towards a new bed to assist with Mary Lynne's condition while allowing her to sleep next to her husband again. Mary Lynne is also working on a book about her journey and hopes for a new inexpensive laptop to help her with the writing while she is off. I hope, with your help, to provide a little bit of relief from the abundance of stress and hardship this disease has put on my sister and her family.

So here I am reaching out to you. Every little amount helps so don't ever feel it is not enough. We all appreciate whatever you can give beyond words. Thanks in advance for your help and kindness.

On behalf of Mary Lynne, Ron, Adriana, and Elise with much love and appreciation.

And the little sister, Brenda xoxo
