MaryKatherine's Emergency Used Car Fund!

On Wednesday, 6/10/20, my friend MaryKatherine Smith and her family were awakened in the middle of the night by a violent car accident right outside their home in Columbus, Ohio. A speeding drunk driver had crashed into MaryKatherine's parked car, then fled the scene, leaving behind his badly injured girlfriend. The driver has not been identified or located. Fortunately, no one else was hurt, but MaryKatherine's car was completely totaled.

The loss of this car has been devastating to MK's family, as she and her husband Larry had just passed the car down to their 20-year-old daughter, Delaney, who needed it to travel for work and her college classes. Since the driver who caused the accident is unknown and likely uninsured, MK and Larry won't be receiving any money from the driver's insurance company, nor from their own, to compensate for the remaining value of their wrecked car.  

In light of these events, MK and Larry are desperately hoping to purchase a used car for Delaney to replace her totaled one. But during this ongoing Covid-19 crisis, their family is already enduring a very difficult financial hardship. With this GoFundMe page, I am hoping to raise $2500 so MK and Larry can buy a reliable used car for Delaney. As a young adult just getting started in college, Covid-19 has already wreaked havoc on Delaney's work and studies, and the loss of her car has placed yet another serious and expensive roadblock in her way. One that she did not ask for, and does not deserve. 

So I'm asking anyone who knows and loves MaryKatherine to please consider donating to her daughter's used car fund. I know the whole family--MK, Larry, Delaney, Caidyn, Mo, and all their pups would be so grateful for your help. I know there are a lot of amazing and truly deserving causes in need right now, so it can be difficult to spare another dollar when we're all struggling. But as someone who used to be part of MK's Columbus community, I can't think of a more generous and deserving friend, mother, writer, and human. Your donation will have a huge and immediate impact on her family, and on Delaney's ability to continue working, learning, and eventually achieve her goals. Any little bit helps, and we are hoping to meet this goal as soon as possible to get Delaney back on the road.
