On Oct. 30, 2015 Mary found out that she has breast cancer. The very first night she and her family slept in their new home, she felt a large lump in her breast. Her worst fears came true. Quickly. On December 7, 2015 Mary will undergo a double mastectomy and full double breast reconstruction. A process which will take about one whole year. This surgery must happen quickly due to the aggressive nature of her tumor
Mary is not only an amazing 40-year-old mother with a beautiful six-year-old daughter, but a wife, daughter, sister, neighbor, friend, and thriving small business owner. Her bridal business and family-owned salon have helped hundreds of Maryland, Virginia, and DC brides fulfill their amazing wedding day dream. Mary's business is more than half of their family's income.
Mary is always giving of herself for others. She goes in early and stays late. But always, always finds time for her daughter. We pray that she has not passed this to her but, only time will tell. Her biggest fear in this whole ordeal is that her daughter won't think of her mother as her safe, strong place.
The income Mary provided for her family will stop as they enter the holiday season and the medical bills will begin. If you know Mary, you know she’s forever optimistic and she plans to win this battle. However, this is not a battle she can win alone. Please help her and her family in any way you can. She is extremely grateful to know so many incredible people and any support you can give is sure to help her family during this tough fight.
Mary will be sharing her story through social media, blogging, and will also be documenting her journey through photographs. Please share her progress and her story. Her family will keep all of you in their hearts and can’t thank you enough for any help you can provide.
