I am so excited to announce that I will be leaving at the end of July to move to La Paz, Bolivia to teach 4th grade for a year. I will be teaching at Highlands International School, which is a part of NICS (Network of International Christian Schools). NICS is an organization that provides a Christian education to students all around the world, regardless of those students' cultural or religious backgrounds.
In the United States, it is very easy to take education for granted. But in Bolivia--which is one of the poorest countries in South America--education is scarce, and children are not set up for success. For the past two years, I have loved teaching 5th grade here in Haverhill, MA. But I have always desired to take my teaching abilities to a different, Spanish-speaking context, where there are more disadvantaged students. And this is why I chose Bolivia. At Highlands International School, I will be teaching all subject areas in English to a group of 4th graders from La Paz who come from a variety of religious backgrounds.
I am planning on leaving at the end of July, but I need your support. Your support will allow me to go to and from Bolivia, as well as provide for my living expenses in La Paz.
I have been praying about this for the past few months, and I really feel like God has put it on my heart to go to Bolivia. I am so grateful for this opportunity, and for your support.
