Mary's Super Support System

Fighter. Mom. Genuine. Lovable. Adorable. Generous. Effervescent. Unique. Strong. Hilarious. Child of God. A straight gangsta'. Sincere. Irreplaceable.  Authentic. Selfless.  These are all words used to describe my sister, Mary, from her closest friends and family. And may I add one more, Larger than Life (you can see that just by her smile).

Mary was diagnosed with colon cancer in January, 2017.  She underwent chemo for 6 months and was then declared cancer free by August 2017.  She questioned a spot that the doctors had seen on her liver that wasn't yet diagnosed as of November, 2017, and after they did a  scan to see what the spot was in February, 2018, it was revealed that she had a recurrence--metastatic Stage 4 cancer that has spread to her liver.  She has 5 tumors on her liver that are shrinking after she has been doing chemo from March to June, 2018. No more tumors are showing up and she will undergo major surgery Wednesday on her liver to section out the areas that have the tumors, followed by more chemo (undetermined amount as of now) to make sure the cancer hasn't and won't spread any further.  Needless to say, it has been a very tough journey for Mary and her family over the last 1 1/2 years and they can't seem to catch a break.  Phil is in between jobs right now and they are having health insurance issues.  We all know the exorbitant cost of healthcare and how it doesn't take much for it to become overwhelming.

Mary really didn't want me to create this page for her because she is not one to ask for anything. EVER.  I am asking on her behalf because I would really like to help her and her family to not have financial stress on top of the stress of being sick.  People are always asking in what way they can help and I thought this would be a great way to show support if you want to.  The funds that are raised will go toward their hefty COBRA insurance payments each month, travel expenses for Phil during the time Mary will be in the hospital (back and forth from CT to NY every day), hospital bills, and to supplement Mary's self-employment income since she has had to decrease her work load over the last year.

Thank you so much in advance for looking out for Mary and being one of her angel's on this earth.  Please keep Mary in your thoughts and prayers for this week for a very successful surgery and quick recovery.
