Mary's Journey With IDC (Cancer)

Donation protected
I know there are a lot of people who love me, my husband and our boys. We appreciate your prayers and support as we navigate these unfamiliar waters.

I am just beginning this journey and have a long haul ahead, but nothing that my awesome God can't handle. I know that he will give each of us the strength we need to get through to the other side of this diagnosis.

This is all still very new, as we've have only a very short time to process all of these developments. In late November, I found something not quite right in my left breast. My husband insisted that I go to the doctor ASAP. I made an appointment with my primary care, who referred me for a mammogram. Due to scheduling conflicts, it was 12-26-17 before the test could be done. The imaging center called me the next day to let me know that there was something there. On 12-28-17 I went in for testing and a biopsy. On 1-2-18 I went in for my results. I did, in fact, have Invasive Ductile Carcinoma. As you can imagine, it was quite a shock. No matter how much you think you prepare yourself, it still seems unreal.

I personally chose Cancer Treatment Centers of America in Tulsa, OK as the facility I wanted to use for my treatment. Though the past few days have been exhausting, I feel so educated and confident to face the challenges ahead. The team that has been assigned to me has proven to be exceptional. I have total confidence that they are the right fit for me.

I will be waiting until after my handsome son, Nathaniel, marries his sweet precious Gabrielle to have surgery. I am scheduled for February 13th at this time.

This is going to be a long journey, with a lot of unavoidable expenses along the way. While Ben has great insurance thru his job, there will be a deductible, out of pocket expenses, prescriptions, travel to and from doctors appointments and necessary travel, as well as lodging and many other expenses. With just one income this is going to be difficult. We appreciate anything you can do to help. If you can't donate monetarily we understand. Prayers are free and we covet each one.

God bless each of you!
