THEY SHOT KENNY! In South Texas, where Barnyard Sanctuary is located, it is not uncommon for unwanted animals to be abandoned to fend for themselves. Sadly, rural residents are not always welcoming of these frightened, hungry, stray animals. Kenny was abandoned when his owner died. Turned out on his own, Kenny wandered the neighborhood trying to survive as a donkey on his own. Unfortunately, Kenny, who is an intact Mammoth Donkey stallion, was seen by the neighbors as a pest and he was neither welcomed nor treated kindly by the human residents. So, what does one do when a big, stray donkey comes into one's yard uninvited? South Texas answer...SHOOT him, of course! Kenny was hit broadside by a blast from a 20 guage shotgun! Now injured and terrified, local rural law enforcement scooped him up and brought him to Barnyard Sanctuary. Kenny received immediate care and will require ongoing medical treatment to heal his body and loving behavioral training to heal his mind. Kenny does not trust humans anymore...with your help, we will show him that not all humans will harm him. Please help Kenny heal by supporting his care.
