Please help Herndon-Reston FISH prepare for the busy holiday season by giving
back to those less fortunate. During the winter holidays, FISH provides caring
support to disadvantaged families. Assistance is offered to reduce stress, lessen
financial pressures, and promote holiday cheer very little. FISH provides non-
perishable food, a grocery card for fresh food, toys for kids, and gift cards for
teens. Last season, FISH assisted about 300 households, a total of 1,205 people!
You can easily help now by sponsoring a $25 gift card for a teen. In
2018, FISH gifted 140 cards to middle and high school teenagers. This is a
great opportunity for you to make a student smile with your kindness and
generous spirits. All donations will go towards holiday gift cards.
FISH provides Friendly Instant Sympathetic Help to local residents in short-term
crises. Each year, FISH helps thousands of people in all demographics but
predominantly those from the very low income levels. FISH responds to requests
for rent to stop evictions, utilities to stop disconnects, medical prescriptions to
stay healthy, and other short term emergency needs. Our objective is to respond
immediately to prevent a crisis situation from becoming a destabilizing, escalating
and costly problem, like homelessness. In the fiscal year just ended, FISH programs
assisted 2,372 people. Almost $212,000 was paid to stop human crises that would
have cost much more if not addressed quickly.
Herndon-Reston FISH, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit that has assisted local residents
