Mary Sooh's McKenzie Oregon Fire Relief

Our friend and colleague, Mary Sooh, lost her home and all possessions during the McKenzie/Holiday Farm Fire that devastated the McKenzie River communities September 8-9th.
With 30 minutes notice, she and her 2 visiting children were forced to evacuate from her home designed and built by her parents in 1960. Under the red, smokey skies, barely able to breathe, they fled the fast-moving fire fed by strong winds. To save their lives and in the chaos, even her go bag of essentials was left behind on the couch. She lost everything. Her home burned to the ground- a total loss.

Mary is hard working, kind, and dedicated to volunteering for her community. She is strong and humble and would not ask for help herself- as a friend and peer community builder, I'm asking for your support. I know her through the Community Website Partnership as we worked together with folks from McKenzie River Communities to launch www.mckenziecommunity.org in 2019. Mary continually shows up for her community. Now it's time for us to show up for her.
As Mary is now focusing on navigating the cleanup, rebuilding, and healing that has just begun, we are reaching out to her friends, family, fellow community builders, and anyone who feels compelled to contribute. She said that the good thing about all of this is seeing how much people care about one another. That's why we love her! Despite this tragic and devastating experience, she chooses to focus on hope and community connection.
This fund will help Mary with resources that are needed to help her rebuild her life along the McKenzie River.
