Our friend Mary Pappenfus Cloutier has been courageously battling cancer now since 2010. We are here, as her friends and family, to help and support Mary and her family to reduce their stress and anxiety over the tremendous medical bills that are facing them, which is why we are starting this fundraiser.
Mary is married to a wonderful man, Joe, and they have two beautiful children, Logan (16) and Ellie (14). Mary fought stage II breast cancer in 2010-2011 and had been in remission since, loving and living life with such a positive attitude, strength and faith. Sadly, Mary had a new cancer appear as stage III aggressive colo-rectal cancer this past October 2016. She went through four months of horrific chemo and radiation. Again, facing this terrible disease with a grateful heart and grace, her mantra was FAITH-FAMILY-FRIENDS. This is what she held onto. Mary fought hard and with the tough treatment the cancerous tumor began to shrink.
With much prayer and hope, we thought this was all behind them, until recently in June when Mary received the terrible news that the colo-rectal cancer re-appeared and was growing fast. Mary and her family have embarked on another fight in which we will witness her strength and faith to rise up and continue on. On July 20th, Mary underwent a life-changing stage III colorectal cancer surgery with reconstruction at Mayo clinic in Rochester. She was told by her team of physicians this was her only option to live. Mary is choosing life and to fight her fight. We, as a community of love, want to help support her and her family as they journey through this next difficult step.
We, as her friends, are launching this GoFundMe to help Mary and Joe with their incredible medical bills from all three of these terrible cancer episodes that have accumulated to well over $45,000. Mary is unable to work at this time and unable to get short or long term disability.
They are humbled and thankful at the amount of help they have received through meals, cards, visits, and prayers. We know it is difficult for them to ask this of our community, but so many people have reached out and want to do something to help.
If you are able to make a contribution, it would mean the world to Mary and her family, every little bit helps to defray their medical expenses.
