Mary Lou O'Neil Memorial Vocational Scholarship
Mary Lou O’Neil (1952-2021) served for over 20 years as the School-to-Career Coordinator at ConVal High School in Peterborough, NH, where she helped hundreds of students find unique internships tailored to their interests. She was passionate about helping young people find meaningful and fulfilling work, and it is in this spirit that we are announcing the creation of the Mary Lou O’Neil Memorial Vocational Scholarship.

WHY VOCATIONAL?
Mary Lou was a big believer that while college is a great option for many people, many other students are better served by a trade school or vocational training. This fund is intended to help cover the costs of attending such a program, either in the form of tuition or material costs.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE FOR THE SCHOLARSHIP?
Conval High School graduating seniors planning on attending vocational school may apply for this scholarship. Application details TBD.
TRANSPARENCY / WHO ARE WE:
The idea to create the scholarship came from a group of ML’s close friends immediately following her passing in August 2021, and was unanimously agreed upon.
We are Shannon & Stephen O’Bent, ML’s niece and nephew-in-law. Shannon spent the last month of ML's life as her primary medical proxy and is organizing this GoFundMe in her memory.
We’re still working out the financial and bureaucratic logistics of creating the scholarship, but for short-term fundraising purposes, 100% of donations to this GoFundMe will go into the scholarship fund once that is created. We will be working with Dollars For Scholars (a 501c3 non-profit) to donate and manage the funds.
