Hello, I am Norma Jean Hill, and my siblings and I appreciate you taking a moment to read our Mom's story.
Our mother, Mary Jo Melton Hill Davis, broke her earthly bonds and shackles and went home on April 1, 2023, at 7:05 p.m. The fight is over, the 'Long Goodbye' is now done. Alzheimer’s is a horrible and devastating disease. Mom, may you find the peace you were always looking for and find comfort in our Lord's arms at last. She is reunited with her parents and five siblings in Heaven.
February 10, 1934 - April 1, 2023.
Mom spent most of her life in the service of others. Through the years, she was a pillar in several different local churches, and many would look to her for her wisdom and guidance. While working, she thrived in any role she was placed in but found the greatest joy in helping her customers meet their exact needs.
Mom worked for years in retail, most of her life really. She mostly worked in cosmetics departments as the department manager and buyer. She opened the cosmetics departments at the new Montgomery Wards and Sears stores at Memorial City Mall, Palais Royal, Foley's at Memorial City Mall, and at Northwest Mall. When Foley's was bought out by Macy's she continued to work for them in various departments. When she moved north to Spring, Texas, she worked at Macy's at Deerbrook Mall as a floor clerk in the men's department. She retired a few years ago from Macy's for health reasons.
What we are learning is that she didn't have a life insurance policy or any financial means to cover her final arrangements. We don't like asking for help or handouts, but here we are, brokenhearted and trying our best to navigate this difficult time and were not prepared for the high cost of a funeral service. We hate to ask anyone for help, but we don't know where else to turn. My siblings and I have done what we can, but we don't have the collective funds to raise the money needed. A close friend suggested I set up a GoFundMe.
If you can find it in your heart to contribute to this fund to help us make the final arrangements for our mother, we would greatly appreciate it.
If you aren't able to donate, we still appreciate you reading this and would greatly appreciate it if you would share this with others who may be able to help out.
Thank you for your thoughts, prayers, and contributions.
