In August Mary found out she was pregnant after 7 years of marriage. However, in late December Mary was diagnosed with stage 2 cervical cancer. She was given the option to terminate the pregnancy and start aggressive treatment, but Mary elected to keep the baby and underwent chemo treatments while pregnant until they delivered the baby at 31 weeks.
In April we found out the tumor grew 40% larger, and metastasized to her lungs and abdominal lymph nodes; she is now stage 4. Mary has been hospitalized multiple times in the last few months and has many more treatments to go. Doctors and family remain hopeful that Mary can beat this cancer. However, cancer is very costly, household bills still need to be paid, and treatment costs continue to sky rocket.
Mary is the kindest person you could ever meet. Although things are tough, she tries to stay positive, strong and sings to her baby everyday. She prays she will live long enough to raise her beautiful daughter, Kimberly Elizabeth. In the meantime, we are taking it one day at a time and we cherish the good days.
